Nicolas Roeg: British Film Director Dies at Age 90

LONDON — Nicolas Roeg, British film director haspassed away at the age of 90. He is known for making provocative films and has worked with rock stars Mick Jagger and David Bowie over a six-decade of his career.

His son Nocolas Roeg Jr confirmed the death ofhis father on Friday. However he did not provide any details of his death. Buthe said :

“He was a genuine dad,” Roeg Jr. said. “He just had his 90th birthday in August.”

The Man Who Fell to Earth 

He worked his way into directing after winning acclaim as a cinematographer. He began his career as an editing apprentice in 1947 —among his duties was serving tea.

He  was born in London. He also worked on several famous films including “Lawrence of Arabia” and “Fahrenheit 451″ before he entered the directing ranks in 1970.
