UAE Announces Paid Public Holiday for Private Sector Employees on New Year

The Ministry of Human Resources in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a public holiday on 1 January 2024 (Monday) on the occasion of New Year, which translates into a 3-day long weekend.

In a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization stated, “The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announces that Monday, 1 January 2024, will be New Year’s Day, a paid holiday for all private sector employees in the UAE.”

Additionally, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has announced a New Year holiday for federal government employees on 1 January 2024 as well through an Instagram post.

According to the list of public holidays for 2024 released by UAE’s Cabinet, citizens can expect up to 13 days off with four long weekends.
