The decision comes after a meeting of the NCOC earlier in the day which was chaired by Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar and attended by health officials.

According to the notification issued by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) face masks have been made mandatory while leaving the house.

Furthermore, the NCOC has ordered that all restaurants, shopping malls, markets and marriage halls will close by 10pm but these restrictions don’t apply to essential services like medical stores, hospitals etc.

The notification further states that all amusement and public parks will be closed by 6pm while smart lockdown’s will be implemented in hotspot areas across the country.

It is pertinent to mention that the new NPIs are applicable in districts and cities with more than 2% positivity rate which at the moment includes Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Hyderabad, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur Peshawar, Quetta etc.
