Donald Trump falsely claimed victory against the Democratic challenger Joe Biden in the US election and asked the supreme court to halt all vote-counting despite a large number of ballots remain untallied.
“I will be making a statement tonight. A big WIN!” said Donald Trump on Twitter when announcing his premature win against rival Joe Biden.
“We are up BIG, but they are trying to STEAL the Election. We will never let them do it. Votes cannot be cast after the Polls are closed!” Trump followed with another Tweet that was later flagged by the social media platform as misleading.
The president told his supports from the East Room of the White House:
Millions of people voted for us tonight. A very sad group of people is trying to disenfranchise that group of people,
And we won’t stand for it.
Donald Trump continued saying:
Frankly, we did win this election,
We want the law to be used in a proper manner, so we’ll be going to the US Supreme Court. We want all voting to stop,
We don’t want them finding any ballots at four in the morning and adding them to the list.
Trump has been against counting of ballots after election day is over even though those votes were cast on time. According to the president, the tallying should stop at midnight and the winner be declared based on the results.
Trump’s advisory Joe Biden said that he was “on track” to becoming the 46th president of the United States but in no way declared a premature victory or signal a court battle.
Biden told his supports:
We feel good about where we are, we really do,
I’m here to tell you tonight we believe we’re on track to win this election.
As of writing this, the Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden remains in the lead with 238 electoral college votes compared to Donald Trump with only 213 according to the Associated Press.
