Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) will formally start operation from 19th November according to the Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed.

Earlier, it was expected that the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) Project will be inaugurated on 16th November but due to the poor condition of tracks, more time is required to get the project on its feet.

Initially four trains will be operational from Karachi City Station to Orangi Station covering a distance of 14 kilometers south west of the port city. It is pertinent to mention to mention that it took at least 2 hours to cover this short distance at a slow speed due to poor condition of the tracks.

Moreover, the stations have become a hub for drug addicts and they are in extremely deplorable condition with no renovations made for inauguration which is just three days away. These stations have no power ticketing system or any management yet.

Meanwhile, the Sindh chief minister Murad Ali Shah said that Karachi needs projects similar to the Orange Line Train in Lahore as riving the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) forcefully on court orders will not benefit the people in any way.

This is just a ‘lollipop’ for the people of Karachi with no proper infrastructure and extremely dangerous operation since there are no railway crossings and signals.

Projects like this require time, proper budget and effort by the Federal Government as the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) does not fall under the Sindh Government.

On the other hand, Green Line Project is hanging in the middle with the busses nowhere to be seen while the public transport system in Karachi remains completely messed up due to the Itehad Transport Mafia which is feeding the provincial government to not provide any relief to the people.
