Russia offers Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Russia has offered to supply its Sputnik V coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine to Pakistan according to a report by ARY News.

According to the report, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received a letter from the Russian Embassy in Islamabad with data on the vaccine’s research and trials while offering supply to Pakistan.

The COVID-19 vaccine itself is currently in its final trials but Russian Government has started to distribute the shots across the country last Saturday. The new vaccine was registered in August 2020.

However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has contact the National Health Services (NHS) regarding the offer presented by Russia to supply the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine.

According to the details, this COVID-19 vaccine developed in Russia is 95 percent effective and much cheaper than other potential options such as ones being developed by Pfizer / BioNTech.

Furthermore, the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine offer less strenuous storage requirements such as the need to be kept at -70C (-94F) while lasting only five days in a regular fridge.
