Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi met with his United Arab Emirates (UAE) counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan while on his two-day visit to the the country according to Radio Pakistan.
The visit comes weeks after the UAE stopped issuing visas to Muslim-majority countries, including Pakistan, Turkey, Afghanistan, Iran and Syria without clearly stating any reasons.
However, the two sides discussed matters on mutual interest, including bilateral relations, promotion of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi discussed the worsening situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K) and the precarious security situation in South Asia.
The foreign minister also acknowledged the hard work and commitment of Pakistani professionals working in the UAE and have contributed to the development of both countries.
FM Qureshi discussed the problems being faced by Pakistani community and stressed the need for an early resolution.
The two foreign ministers also discussed Pakistan’s consistent efforts to support peace in Afghanistan and the part it played in the peace deal between with the US.
Towards the end of the meeting, FM Qureshi extended an invitation to his UAE counterpart to visit Pakistan on mutually convenient dates, which he graciously accepted.
