The government of Turkey has shut down a website which was used by India to defame Pakistan after the EU DisinfoLab exposed the country for running a series of fake websites for the past 15 years to malign its neighbor’s reputation across the world.
Abdul Akbar, a diplomat at the Pakistan Embassy in Ankara shared the news on Twitter. “hamsvasser.com is now closed by Turkish authorities.” he wrote in his tweet.
According to the diplomat, the website was named after “Hamevasser Hebrew”, a weekly published from Constantinople between 1909 and 1911.

EU DisinfoLab Exposes India
Recently, a report by EU DisinfoLab exposed India of maligning Pakistan’s reputation by running fake news websites in over 65 countries for the past 15 years.
According to the EU DisinfoLab report, an NGO that researches and tackles disinformation campaigns, there were more than 265 fake news websites being operated by India to influence the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) and damage Pakistan’s reputation.
The investigation, which has been given the name of ‘the Indian Chronicles’ revealed that the Srivastava Group had backed these fake websites and the entire operation while leading Indian news agency known as Asian News International aka ANI was used to boost it.
The entire operation aimed at promoting content against Pakistan and China while consolidating power for India at international forums such as the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN).
