SHC bans use of unlicensed CNG cylinders

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has banned the use of unlicensed Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) cylinders in cars across the province.

According to the details, the SHC has ordered action against all people found using and selling unverified CNG cylinders in the province.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) states that all cylinders must have a license from the Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan to be eligible for use in the province.

An inquiry will be launched against anyone found selling or using illegal cylinders in the province.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered the IG to crackdown against illegal cylinders being used in the province.

Lawyers of the CNG Association requested time to submit a reply, however, the court under Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar denied the request.

“Do accidents wait for anyone?” asked the Justice Mazhar..

Furthermore, the court clarified that CNG kit installers must fulfill all legal formalities, including the availability of a “fitness certificate” otherwise a ban will be imposed and appropriate action taken against the party.
