The announcement came at the virtual CES 2021, where AMD CEO, Lisa Su, announced the arrival of the new Ryzen 5000 series mobile processors.

These AMD Ryzen 5000 series mobile processors are have been divided into two categories, which include the H-series, aimed at gaming and content creation and the U-series, aimed at ultrabooks.

Some of the models included in the new lineup of processors are based on the new 7nm ‘Zen 3’ architecture while others are based on the older ‘Zen 2’ technology.

The H-series Ryzen 5000 mobile processors from the list are based on the new ‘Zen 3’ architecture while the U-series are based on the older ‘Zen 2’ technology, except the Ryzen 5 5600U and the Ryzen 7 5800U.

There are several notable difference between the ‘Zen 2 and the ‘Zen 3’ but perhaps the most important one is the fact that the latter delivers better performance per watt, which means lower power consumption and improved battery life.

However, as for the actual comparison with Intel counterparts, we will have to wait until these AMD Ryzen 5000 series mobile processors hit market and actual benchmarks become available.

Furthermore, Lisa Su also demonstrated the upcoming Epyc server chip, code-named Milan, running a whether forecasting software. In the test, a server with dual processors, each with 32 cores, outpaced a dual processor Intel server using Xeon Gold 6258R chips with a massive 68 percent performance advantage.
