Morris Garages or MG Motors, a Chinese-owned British car maker that made its debut in Pakistan with the launch of their MG HS, has received the greenfield status under the Auto Development Policy (ADP) 2016-21.
The greenfield status allows automakers to set up car assembly or manufacturing in Pakistan through one time duty-free import of plant and machinery while also providing several other incentives to these companies in the process.
MG Motors has successfully entered the automotive industry in Pakistan through a joint venture between JW-SEZ and Chinese giant SAIC, which now owns the British automaker.
The Chinese-based British car maker recently launched their MG HS to compete in the growing SUV segment in Pakistan and some reports suggest that the company plans to introduce several more vehicles by next year.
According to reports, the next few vehicles to be launched by MG Motors in Pakistan include the MG ZS 1.5, MG ZS EV, MG RX8 sedan and their pick-up truck, the MG Extender.
