Karachi Weather: Tropical Cyclone ‘TAUKTAE’ UPDATE

Karachi weather is expected to stay very hot with gusty winds and dust storm during next two days as Tropical Cyclone Tauktae moves further northeast while it is also expected that there will be no major impact on Pakistan as predicted earlier.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued an update of the Tropical Cyclone TAUKTAE intensified into a Very severe cyclone storm (VSCS), moved further North Westward at a speed of 15 K, during last 12 hours and It now lay centered at 0800 Pakistan Standard Time (PST) of 16 2021 near latitude 15.3 North and Longitude 72.5 East, a distance of about 1210 km south-southeast of Karachi.

Maximum sustained winds around the system centre are 100-120 Kmph gusting to 140 Kmph. The System is likely to move further northwestward and reach Indian Gujurat by 18th May morning.

Due to shift in TC source, prevailing enviromental and meteorological conditions, dust/thunderstorm-rain with few moderate to heavy falls with gusty wins of 60-80 Kmph are likely to occur in Thatta, Sujawal, Badin Tharparker, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot & Sanghar district dujring 17-19 May 2021.

Weather in Karachi, Hyderabad and Shaheed-Banirabad, districts likely to remain hot/very hot weather with gusty winds and blowing dust during next two days, Sea condition will remain rough to very rough and fishermen are advised not venture in the sea till 19 May 2021.
