Mufti Aziz ur Rehman Confesses to Sexually Abusing Student

Former JUI-F leader Mufti Aziz ur Rehman, who was arrested for sexually abusing his madrassa student, has confessed to the heinous crime before a court on Monday.

The religious cleric and his sons were presented before a Lahore court on Monday. Mufti Aziz ur Rehman told Magistrate Rana Arshad that it was him in the leaked viral video that was secretly filmed by his victim (student) at the Lahore-based seminary.

Mufti Aziz also confessed that he had lured the student by offering to promote him in the examinations and later sexually abused him. Meanwhile, his sons threatened the student from speaking out about the entire ordeal.

Furthermore, the police requested the court for a physical remand of the accused cleric. In response, the court granted permission to carry out a four-day physical remand while also ordering a DNA test and medical examination.

Mufti Aziz ur Rehman Arrested

The Lahore police arrested the accused on Sunday after the student went public with videos of the sexual abuse and lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against the religious cleric.

According to the details, Mufti Aziz ur Rehman had fled the Lahore-based seminary to avoid repercussions of his actions after being asked by the seminary management to leave the institution. However, he was later found hiding in Mianwali while his sons were arrested in two separate raids from Lakki Marwat and Kahna.

Police Registers FIR

The police registered an FIR against Mufti Aziz ur Rehman, his sons and two other unidentified persons on 17 June 2021 after the leaked viral video showed the cleric sexually abusing his student.

First Information Report

The student released a video statement claiming that the sons of the religious cleric were blackmailing and threatening to kill him for coming forward with the incident.

“It is better I commit suicide rather than living in fear of being killed.” said the victim in his video statement.

Mufti says he was drugged

Mufti Aziz ur Rehman had earlier claimed that he was drugged and denied his involvement in the leaked viral video while calling it an attempt to malign his reputation. The religious cleric had released a video statement in his regard and took oath that he did not commit such an offense.
