JUSTICE FOR MAHAM: In another tragic incident, a six-year-old girl was raped and killed in Korangi No 5 of Karachi. The six-year-old was identified as Maham and social media has been trending with hashtag #JusticeForMaham, as netizens demand justice for Maham and express their sorrow over the heart-wrenching incident that took place on Wednesday.
According to the details, the six-year-old Maham was kidnapped from outside her house located at Ghous Pak area of Korangi No 5 at around 9pm on Tuesday.
The parents of Maham reported the incident to the police at midnight and her body was discovered from a garbage dump in the morning after a tip was received regarding the presence of the body near Ghous Pak, which is situated within the jurisdiction of the Zaman Town Police Station.
The body of the six-year-old was shifted to Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post-mortem examination, which revealed that Maham was raped, sodomized before being killed. There were several other injuries to the body, including her head, neck and private parts.
Furthermore, the DNA samples were collected for DNA profiling and cross-matching while the girl’s clothes have been collected for testing as well.
According to Landhi SP Shahnawaz Chachar, the police have conducted raids at several localities and detained around a dozen people for interrogation into Maham’s murder. Meanwhile, the police forensic teams also visited the crime scene and collected evidence.
Moreover, there were no CCTV cameras in the area but the police has received information from witnesses who claim they saw a rikshaw dumping something from where the girl’s body was discovered.
The father of the victim said that Maham was playing outside with other children when she was kidnapped. The family kept searching for the girl until they were informed that a dead body of a girl was found near a school at Ghous Pak area of Korangi No 5.
The victim’s father also added that they had reported the matter to the police and lodged a First Information Report (FIR) but the family received no aid in searching for the missing child from the police.
Social media has been trending with hashtag #JusticeForMaham as netizens are demanding justice for Maham and her rapist to be arrested immediately.
