Sadaf Kanwal gets trolled over her views on marriage & feminism

Pakistani model and actress Sadaf Kanwal is being targeted by online trolls after speaking about what she thinks about marriage, feminism and a women’s role in society. Sadaf Kanwal and her husband Shahroz Sabzwari recently appeared in an interview with a local news outlet where the two discussed about their marriage, work and personal life.

It bears mentioning that both of them got married last year after Shahroz Sabzwari dissolved his previous marriage his actress and model Syra Yousaf. The former celebrity couple had a daughter together and both of them were adored by fans until their divorce caused massive uproar towards Shahroz Sabzwari.

During the recent interview, Sadaf Kanwal discussed her views on marriage, feminism and the role of women in our society. However, the actress has received a lot of criticism for her views on these topics. “My rules are very simple and they include giving your husband the utmost respect as he is a ‘man’ and should hold a dominant position in the relationship.”

She went on to explain her stance, “He earns to feed the family and even though I work myself, I can’t compete with him. I will take care of my kids someday but I can’t be on the same level as him. The way a man takes care of things, a woman cannot do that. It is something that I believe.”

Shahroz Sabzwari also added his own views on the matter. “The role of a women cannot be fulfilled by a man and both of them need to understand their place as God as created them for a particular role in society otherwise God would not have created two completely different kinds of people.”

Sadaf Kanwal was asked about her views on feminism and Aurat March to which she responded with her thoughts about gender roles in our society. She started explaining that women in our society are not oppressed. “They’re very strong and I think that I’m very strong and I’m sure you are too.” she told the interviewer. “Our husband are our culture. I have married him and I have to pick up his shoes and iron his clothes. I have to know when he has to eat and where his things are because I am his wife and I am a woman. He doesn’t have to know the same things about me. This is what I believe because this is what I have seen growing up. The recent feminism that has become part of our lives is because of liberals.” the model shared with the interviewer.

However, the actress is being criticized by people amid the recent wave of domestic violence and rape cases being reported across the country. Many people are of the view that Sadaf Kanwal doesn’t know her own worth and she thinks taking care of husband like a toddler is a wife’s duty.

Twitter has been trending with the interview all day and many people have shared their opinion on the matter and criticized Sadaf Kanwal for her views on these matters.

However, there are some people supporting Sadaf Kanwal and think that she is right and it is actually the woman’s job to take care of their husband, which is in line with our culture.

There are some people with entirely different opinion as well and think that a relationship between a husband and wife should be based on love and not about their gender roles.
