Taking to Twitter, the PTA cleared the air regarding such news, saying that it was false after it was asked regarding the matter on Twitter. “This news is wrong.” said the regulator, adding that it denies all such publications.

It is pertinent to mention that a news published in Urdu started going viral on social media over the weekend regarding Telenor shutting down services in Pakistan. The news was published in response to a statement by the company’s global CEO, who said that it could look at potential merger opportunities in Asia, including Pakistan.

However, the PTA confirmed that Telenor was shutting down services in Pakistan and the regulator had received no such request from the telecom operator regarding termination of services in the country.
