Former Pakistan Test Captain Mohammad Hafeez on Monday announced his retirement from international cricket 18 years after making his debut in Sharjah against Zimbabwe on 3 April 2003.
Mohammad Hafeez has headed the Pakistan Squad in all formats of the game. The cricketer has represented the country in 392 international matches, scoring 12,780 runs and taking 253 wickets, besides acting as the captain in 32 international matches.
Hafeez said that he is retiring from international cricket because he is satisfied with his performance for Pakistan and he never wanted to play cricket for fame or money. It was about representing Pakistan with dignity and offer everything for the national team.
“I am extremely fortunate, lucky and proud to have been considered worthy of donning the national kit with Pakistan emblem for 18 years.” said Mohammad Hafeez during his press conference. “I am thankful to all my fellow crickets, captains, support staff, and the Pakistan Cricket Board who helped me out during my career.”
Mohammad Hafeez also made the announcement of his retirement from international cricket on Twitter. “My journey of pride representing Pakistan came to an end and I am proudly retiring from international cricket with great satisfaction and joy.” he said in his tweet. “Thank you all for 18 years of support.”

Mohammad Hafeez played his last international match against Australia in the semi-final of the 2021 T20 World Cup and he will continue to play franchise league cricket all over the world and will also be seen playing the Pakistan Super League (PSL 7 2021) with Lahore Qalandars.
