Entry in Murree Banned Till 17 January 2022.

The Government has banned entry into Murree till 17 January 2022 after the recent tragedy and loss of lives amid the extreme weather conditions in the area.

The announcement was made by the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) on Twitter. “Entry into Murree Banned.” said the Tweet by the NHMP, adding the ban will remain in place until 17 January 2022 as per directions issued by the District Administration.

It is pertinent to mention that Deputy Commissioner Islamabad had earlier Tweeted that a Travel Ban will remain in place from Islamabad to Murree for 24 hours. However, the District Administration has now extended the ban until 17 January 2022.

Murree Tragedy

At least 22 tourist have lost their lives over the weekend as a result of carbon-monoxide poisoning while being trapped in their vehicles due to heavy snowfall which hit the Murree Hill Station. According to new reports, there were more than 100,000 vehicles that entered the city over the weekend and several tourist became stranded in their vehicles.

However, all the main roads in Murree have been cleared up for all types of traffic as per the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday, while efforts for evacuation the stranded tourists are underway. The ISPR said that after clearance of main roads, the army engineers were now focusing on clearing up the road links.
