Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) has finally launched the new Suzuki Swift 2022 in Pakistan and this post shows a comparison between the different variants of the Suzuki Swift 2022, which include the Swift GL Manual, Swift GL CVT and the Swift GLX CVT, which is the top-of-the-line variant of the popular hatchback.
The latest iteration of the Suzuki Swift that has been introduced in the country is actually the 4th Generation of the hatchback which has been available in the international market for a few years now. However, the new Suzuki Swift 2022 is the first time Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) has introduce a new model for the vehicle since its launch in Pakistan 11 years ago.
Suzuki Swift 2022 Variants
The new Suzuki Swift 2022 has been launched in three separate variants, which include the Swift GL Manual as the base variant, the Swift GL CVT as the mid-variant, and the Swift GLX CVT as the top-of-the-line variant. This post gives a comparison between the different variants of the new Suzuki Swift 2022, including Swift GL Manual, Swift GL CVT, and Swift GLX CVT.
Engine and Transmission
Suzuki Swift 2022 is powered by a 1.2L K-Series DOHC engine, which is capable of producing 81 horsepower (hp) and 113 Newton metres (Nm) of Torque, while mated with a manual or CVT transmission system. It bears mentioning that the engine specifications are the same for all three of the variants except the transmission, which is manual for the Swift GL and CVT for the Swift GL CVT and Swift GLX CVT.
However, there are other numerous difference in these variants, especially the base and mid-tier variant, the Swift GL, and the top-of-the-line variant, the Swift GLX. This post focuses on all three of the variants starting with the base variant, the Suzuki Swift GL Manual Transmission.
Suzuki Swift GL
The GL Manual Transmission (M/T) of the new Suzuki Swift 2022 is the base variant of the vehicle and features of the variant are discussed below.

Suzuki Swift GL CVT
The Suzuki Swift 2022 comes with GL CVT variant, which is the mid-tier variant of the vehicle. There are not much difference in the Swift GL and Swift GL CVT except the added automatic CVT transmission and a few added features that are mentioned below. It bears mentioning that these features are present in addition to the ones mentioned for the base variant.
Exterior
There are no difference when it comes to the GL CVT variant of the new Suzuki Swift 2022.
Interior
The GL CVT variant of the new Suzuki Swift 2022 is equipped with an automatic air-conditioner, unlike the base GL variant, which has a manual AC system. The vehicle also has an additional driving mode (Sports) and the audio system is equipped with 2 additional speakers (rear) that makes a total of four speakers in the car.
Safety
The Suzuki Swift GL CVT has an added Hill Hold Control, while rest of the features are exactly the same as the base line variant of the vehicle.
Suzuki Swift GLX CVT
This is the top-of-the-line variant (GLX CVT) of the new Suzuki Swift 2022, however, there are only a few added features in the vehicle as discussed below.
Exterior
The Suzuki Swift GLX CVT has the following added features:
- LED Projector Headlamp
- Head Lamp Leveling Device (Manual)
- DRL (LED Integrated in H/L)
- Front Fog Lamp (Bulb)
- Retractable Side Mirrors
- Side Mirrors with Build-in Turn Signal Lamp
Interior
The new Suzuki Swift GLX CVT has a power steering with tilt and telescope adjustment compared to a simple tilt adjustment found in the other two variants. Furthermore. the meter cluster has an integrated information display which includes instant fuel economy, driving time, speed range, average fuel economy and average speed. The vehicle is equipped with a Smart Trunk Opener and an Automatic Air Conditioner (Climate Control) as well.
However, the feature that stands out is the addition of the Cruise Control, which is lacking in the other two variants of vehicle. The GLX CVT variant of the new Suzuki Swift 2022 also has Keyless Entry and Push Start, adding to that luxurious feel of the car, even though these are fairly standard features in 2022 as per the international market, which are still lacking in Pakistan in the given price range.
Safety
The vehicle has an added rear camera and a total of 6 airbags in the vehicle, which is definitely a point in its favor as you can never put a price on safety. The vehicle is also equipped with Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and rear parking sensors, both of which is lacking in the other two variants.
It bears mentioning that the new Suzuki Swift 2022 GLX CVT variant has all the bells and whistles found in the base and mid-tier variant as well as the mentioned additional features above.
