YouTube Vanced Discontinued Due to Legal Reasons

The announcement was made on Twitter by the official YouTube Vanced account (@YTVanced). “Vanced has been discontinued.” said the tweet, “In the coming days, the download links on the website will be taken down.” However, they followed up saying that all installed versions of the app will continue to work until they become outdated in a few years.

Google had been trying to get YouTube Vanced taken down and it appears they have finally been able to force the developers to continue the service. It makes sense since Vanced provided features like ad-free videos, and background video playback, which are available in the official YouTube app with a Premium Subscription.

YouTube Vanced being discontinued is a serious blow to many users of the application since it provided some features which are not even available on the official YouTube premium, such as the picture-in-picture (PiP) and an AMOLED black theme, swiping gestures and the ability to restore the dislike counts.
