WhatsApp Brings 37 New Emojis to Android Beta

WhatsApp is rolling out 37 new emojis on its beta version for Android after the company already introduced them on iOS. The new emojis come as part of Unicode 14, which has been introduced with Android 12L and iOS 15.4. The newly introduced emojis on WhatsApp will help users to better express themselves with their contacts.

According to WABetaInfo, a service that tracks new features on the encrypted messenger, the new emojis were found in version 2.22.8.8 of WhatsApp for Android beta. It bears mentioning that people with older versions of Android will also be able to see the new emojis on WhatsApp.

It is pertinent to mention that emojis on WhatsApp are version-agnostic, which means they can be used by someone running on older version of Android as well. However, it must be remembered that the new emojis are still in beta for Android users of the popular messaging app and it isn’t confirmed when WhatsApp will be rolling them out for everyone.

iOS 15.4 users have already got the new emojis on WhatsApp, which include the melting face, heart hands, disco ball, pregnant person, biting lip, a troll, a jar, and many more. The new emojis were approved by the Unicode Consortium last September before making its way to WhatsApp users.

In related news, WhatsApp is also expanding the file sharing limit on the platform from 100MB to 2GB and the new feature is already under testing with certain Android and iOS users. The increase in the file sharing limit on WhatsApp will prove to be an essential feature for users, who until now had been restricted to 100MB,
