The Session of the National Assembly started after a brief delay with the recitation of the Holy Quran and it was chaired by NA Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri. “I, as the deputy speaker, give the ruling that the no-confidence motion against PM Imran Khan is being rejected,” said Suri, while adjourning the session for an indefinite period.

Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri in a ruling said the no-confidence motion should be in line with the Constitution, laws and rules. “No foreign power has the right to topple an elected government under any conspiracy.” said Suri. “So I give the ruling that no-confidence resolution is against the national integrity and sovereignty and I give the ruling to disallow the no-confidence resolution as per rules and law.”

In his speech at the onset of the session, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said that a Pakistani Envoy was told on March 7 that a no-confidence motion is going to be submitted against PM Khan, which was before anyone even knew about it.

He added that submitting the no-trust motion was the Opposition’s democratic right, but Article 5 of the Pakistan Constitution speaks about loyalty to the country. However, the no-confidence motion was being moved under an international conspiracy.

It is pertinent to mention that it was being reported that Prime Minister Imran Khan was confident that he was going to defeat the no-confidence motion against him.
