The feature was spotted by WABetaInfo, a service that tracks the instant messenger for new and upcoming features. According to the report, WhatsApp is only going to inform admins about a users’ exit from the group. This means that group members will not be able to see whether one of them has left that particular group.

Currently, WhatsApp shows an auto-generated notification in the group whenever someone exits the particular group and this is visible to all members of that group.

WhatsApp has announced the ability to silently leave a group at the time of detailing its Communities features a few days back. However, the messaging service has not revealed the exact time of release for the new feature. “We’re also adding the ability to silently leave a group, so everyone in a group is not notified in case people decide the conversation is no longer for them,” said WhatsApp on their FAQ page.

WABetaInfo has shared a screenshot of the new feature from WhatsApp for Desktop. However, the change will likely be available on WhatsApp for Android and iOS as well.
