Punjab Launches 1421 Helpline For Tourists

The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) in collaboration with the Department of Tourist Services (DTS) has launched a universal helpline 1421 for the guidance and complaints of tourists in the province.

According to the details, the helpline was launched during a ceremony held at the Arfa Software Technology Park on Friday with Punjab Tourism Department Secretary Ehsan Bhutta, Deputy Controller Hafiz Ghazanfer, PITB DG e-Governance Sajid Latif, Project Manager PTEGP Waqas Malik, CCC PITB Joint Director Ali Zeb, and other senior officials from both sides present at the venue.

Addressing the ceremony, Punjab Tourism Secretary Ehsan Bhutta said that a special team has been constituted for helping and guiding tourists as well as providing them protection and facilities in case of any unpleasant incident.

He added that squads would be deployed at different tourist destinations, which are going to be available throughout the day to help tourists.

According to the details provided, the special tourism squad will comprise of 106 personnel, including 11 female staff members and as many as 82 members will perform their duties on the field. Furthermore, the tourism squad will be responsible for handling tourist inquiries and complaints.

In the first phase, the squad will be deployed in Murree and it will gradually cover other tourist destinations in Punjab, North, Center, and South. In this regard, extensive trainings are underway to equip the squad with required skills.

Apart from launching the 1421 helpline for tourists, the Department of Tourist Services (DTS) has also engaged Rescue 1122, Institute of Hospitality Department, and the PITB for this purpose. All these departments are working together to train the squad with necessary skills.
