It’s not clear what type of paid features might come out of the effort, but one thing is clear that the company remains committed to growing its ads business and has no plans to let users pay to turn of ads in its apps, the report quoted John Hegeman, Meta’s Head of ads and business products.

It is pertinent to mention that Facebook and Instagram already have a number of paid features that cater to creators, including Stars, Paid Events, and various Subscription Products. However, the new division at Meta will be separate from from those initiatives.

Other competitors like Twitter and Snapchat already offer paid features for users like Snapchat+ and Twitter Blue that help unlock some exclusive features and other in-app perks for paid subscribers. The move by Meta to introduce paid features to WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram will certainly help the company boost its non-ad revenue.
