WhatsApp is Far More Secure Than iMessage – Mark Zuckerberg

Earlier this year, a Google executive called out Apple for “green bubble bullying” and today, Mark Zuckerberg is sort of doing the same as he claims that WhatsApp is “far more private and secure” than Apple’s iMessage platform.

In an Instagram post, Mark Zuckerberg said that WhatsApp is far superior than iMessage when it comes to privacy thanks to its end-to-end encryption, ability to set messages to disappear after a set period of time, and its availability across multiple platforms, which are features that iMessage does not have.

The image used by Mark Zuckerberg in the post is a picture of an ad at Penn Station, which is part of the company’s marketing campaign that started back in January and is being expanded now. The campaign aims to tell people in the US about the importance of end-to-end encryption, and attract more users towards the platform in the process.

WhatsApp has a huge user-base in several countries but its still somewhat struggling in the US with competition from Apple’s iMessage and SMS, which is also not end-to-end encrypted and something that was pointed out by the company’s CEO, Will Cathcart, in his own Tweet. “5.5 billion SMS messages are still sent daily in the U.S., but SMS messages aren’t secure.” he stated in his message.
