Islamabad Gets Free Bus Service For Schools & Colleges

Islamabad is getting a free bus service for schools and colleges as Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, Rana Tanveer Hussain, has directed the schools in the Federal Capital to stop charging students Rs. 1,500 every month for transport services.

According to the details, the Federal Education Minister, Rana Tanveer Hussain directed the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) to withdraw the order to charge students for the bus service immediately.

The development comes over the complaints of inflation-hit parents and fears of educationists about increase in dropout rates as parents and students may not be able to afford transportation charges.

The FDE has directed all educational institutions in Islamabad to immediately stop collecting bus charges from students and provide free pick and drop services.

For this purpose, the FDE will be issued Rs. 100 million over the next few weeks to provide relief to the students.

It is pertinent to mention that College Management Committee of the Islamabad Model Colleges announced a Rs. 1,500 fee every month from students using official buses and warned that they will not be allowed to travel unless payment is made on time.
