Addressing a press conference in Karachi, the MQM-P Convener, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui announced that party will boycott the local government (LG) elections and reject the “fake” delimitations of constituencies and voter list.

“Until January 15, we left no stone unturned to bring justice to this city,” Siddiqui said, adding that local body polls were already rigged. Furthermore, he said that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had failed to keep on eye on the constituencies.

Khalid Maqbool said that courts asked them to approach provincial government and the ECP but no one paid heed to their issues.

“We are boycotting the election [LG polls] due to injustice and the election commission’s behavior,” he said during the presser.

He added that MQM-P would raise its voice against today’s polls as they will not benefit the citizens.

Meanwhile, Mustafa Kamal speaking at the presser, said that provincial government had admitted the mistake of delimitation in 53 union councils and had written to the ECP.
