The second leg of the eighth Pakistan Super League (PSL 8 2023) begins with Lahore Qalandars vs Peshawar Zalmi going head to head in Match 15 being held at Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The last year’s champions, Lahore Qalandars, won the match by 40 runs.
Lahore won the toss and elected to bat first, which was the right decision as they managed to set a target of 242 runs for Peshawar Zalmi to win the game.
Despite a rough start with an early loss of wicket when Mirza Tahir Baig was dismissed for only 5 runs off 7 balls, Lahore Qalandars managed to score 241 runs thanks to Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique, who scored 96 and 75 runs, respectively.
Meanwhile, Sam Billings added 47 runs off 23 balls and David Wiese managed to score 8 runs from just 4 balls towards the end of the innings.
Peshawar Zalmi had a rough start as well with openers Mohammad Haris and Babar Azam being dismissed for 0 and 7 runs, respectively. However, Saim Ayub and Tom Kohler-Cadmore managed to give Peshawar Zalmi a fighting chance as they scored 51 and 55 runs, respectively.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa added 24 off 14 balls, while Rovman Powell managed 20 runs off 14 balls. Furthermore, all-rounder, James Neesham was only able to make 12 runs in 8 balls, while Wahab Riaz played just 2 balls and scored nothing.
Saad Masood was able to score 16 runs before being dismissed by Shaheen Afridi, who managed 5 wickets in the match. Arshad Iqbal and Salman Irshad managed to score 2 and 0 runs towards the end of the innings.
