ECC Okays Increase in Power Tariff to Meet IMF Demands

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved the increase in the power tariff in order to meet the demands of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to resume the much-need loan programme.

According to the details, the ECC has approved the increase of electricity tariff by Rs. 3.39 per unit for household consumers utilizing over 300 units per month, except K-Electric.

Meanwhile, the power tariff has been raised by Rs. 3.23 per unit for commercial and industrial users across Pakistan, K-Electric. As for K-Electric consumers, a surcharge of Rs. 4.77 per unit will be implemented.

The power tariff will see an increase from Rs. 24 per unit to Rs. 36 per unit for all household consumers after the implementation.

It is pertinent to mention that taxes, and fuel adjustment charges (FCA) will be included in the monthly bills separately. Furthermore, the increase in the electricity tariff will be implemented from this month until June 2024.
