PTI Chairman Imran Khan Remanded in NAB Custody For Eight Days

The former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan, has been remanded in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for eight days in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

Earlier, the NAB had sought a 14-day physical remand of Ex-PM Imran Khan, who was produced in court amid tight security. The NAB had requested a 14-day physical remand of former prime minister Imran Khan, which is the maximum allowed in the law.

Imran Khan was arrested on Tuesday by Rangers personnel from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on the orders of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in relation to the Al-Qadir Trust case, which alleges that Ex-PM, along with his wife and other PTI leaders, had made a settlement between the PTI government and a property tycoon, which caused a loss of nearly £190 billion to the national exchequer.

Announcing the reserved verdict on Khan’s arrest, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) said that the arrest was legal, therefore, Imran Khan’s legal team challenged the verdict in the Supreme Court. However, the plea was turned down citing various reasons.

Meanwhile, PTI Leader Asad Umar was also arrested from the IHC premises by the Anti-Terrorist Squad of the Islamabad Police. He was arrested while trying to file a plea in the IHC to seek a meeting the party chairman.
