Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial headed the three-member bench, which comprised of Athar Minallah and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar.

The directives came after Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) termed PTI chief, Imran Khan’s arrest from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) as illegal and a mighty disgrace to the country’s judicial system.

The orders were passed by the Supreme Court after hearing the plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) challenging the arrest of Former Prime Minister and party’s chief, Imran Khan by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Imran Khan’s legal team led by Hamid Khan told the court that Imran Khan came to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for bail, but he was arrested from the court premises while he was in the room for biometric.

The court was informed that 80 to 100 Rangers personnel entered the court premises and arrested Imran Khan.

CJP Umar Ata Bandial asked how can a person be arrested from the court premises. “Where will the prestige of the court stand when Rangers personnel enter its premises.”

He added that permission should be taken from the Registrar IHC before making any arrest from the court premises. He said that NAB has committed such acts in the past after which officials apologized and assured him that it would not happen again, but it has been repeated.

Imran Khan will now be presented before the Supreme Court by 4:30 pm.
