Weather Update: PMD Predicts Rain and Dust Storm in Next 2 Days

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), in the latest weather update, has predicted thunderstorm and rain in upper and central parts of Pakistan during the next two days, which will give much needed relief from the hot and dry spell being experienced across the country.

According to the details, the Met Office informed that a westerly wave is likely to enter in upper parts of the country on 16th (evening/night) and likely to persist in upper and central parts of the country till 18th May.

Under the weather system, Wind-dust/thunderstorm rain with isolated hailstorm is expected in Kashmir (Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur), Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar),Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Bajaur, Kurram, Waziristan, Kohat, Bannu, Tank, Karak, Dera Ismail Khan, Islamabad, Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sheikhupura, Nankana, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Kasur, Okara and Lahore on 17th and 18th May.

Wind-dust/thunderstorm rain is expected in Balochistan (Quetta, Zhob, Barkhan, Qila Saifullah, Qillah Abdullah, Chamman, Pishin, Noshki, Naseerabad, Sibbi), south Punjab (Layyah, Kot Addu, Multan, D.G. Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanewal, Pakpattan, Sahiwal) and upper Sindh (Sukkur, Jacobabad & Larkana) on 16th (evening/night) and 17th May.

The PMD warned that dust storm may cause damage to lose structure structure and standing crops in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir on 17th and 18th May. Furthermore, the PMD advised farmers to manage their activities keeping in view the weather update.

Meanwhile, tourists are also advised to remain cautious during the forecast period and general public is advised to stay at safe places during the dust storm / windstorm/ thunderstorm.
