The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) has announced a nationwide strike from July 22 for an indefinite period, which may result in a shortage of petrol across the country.
According to the PPDA Chairman, Abdul Sami Khan, the association is facing massive losses due to sale of petrol and diesel that is smuggled from Iran.
Furthermore, the PPDA has demanded an increase in dealers’ commission by 5%.
The chairman added that a letter was sent to the Minister of Petroleum, Musadik Malik, to bring these matters to his attention, but he never responded to the association.
Currently, the Government allocates a commission of 2.4 percent per litre to the dealers, which has been causing financial losses to petrol pumps with low sales and the problem is exacerbated by increased sales of smuggled petrol and diesel from Iran.
Therefore, everyone is advised to fill their tanks in case of closure of petrol pumps as a result of the petroleum dealers nationwide strike from July 22.
