NEPRA Increases Power Tariff Once Again

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Wednesday announced another hike in power tariff by Rs. 1.90 per unit on account of monthly Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA).

According to the details, this amount will be recovered from consumers in electricity bills for the month of August and this will put a burden of Rs. 23 billion on masses already stricken by heavy inflation.

Separately on July 14, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) hiked the base power tariff by Rs. 4.96 per unit for the fiscal year 2023-24.

The authority forwarded its decision regarding the recommended increase in the base power tariff to the Federal Government for final approval following which, the base power tariff will be increased from Rs. 24.82 per unit to Rs. 29.78 per unit.

However, the cabinet will decide whether the hike in the electricity tariff is going to be implemented in phases or not.

Furthermore, the Federal Government has decided to add an additional Rs. 15 radio fee and increase the current TV fee to Rs. 50 in the monthly electricity bills.
