The International Cricket Council (ICC) has finalized the dates for the next T20 World Cup, which is schedule to be held in 2024.
According to the details, the T20 World Cup 2024 will be held from June 4 to 30 in West Indies and the US, while the cricket body has shortlisted ten venues in the US and West Indies.
The ICC added that T20 World Cup 2024 matches will be taking place in Florida, Dallas, New York, and Morrisville in the US. However, it bears mentioning that Morrisville, Dallas, and New York do not have any international cricket stadiums yet.
The cricket body will finalize the venues in consultation with the US and West Indies cricket boards.
Furthermore, 20 teams will be participating in the T20 World Cup 2024, which is going to be played in a different format from the one being used right now.
In the first round, the teams will be divided into four groups of five teams each, and the top two teams from each group will move forward for the Super 8 round. Meanwhile, the top two teams from the Super 8 groups will qualify for the semi-finals.
“The 2024 T20 World Cup is the first of the eight men’s global events in the ICC’s next commercial cycle from 2024-31, which was finalized in 2021,” the cricket body added.
