It seems that fake delivery riders are roaming the streets of Islamabad trying to trick people into opening their gates or doors and letting them inside. According to user on Reddit, a fake delivery rider visited his residence in Islamabad’s Sector I-8/3 last month.
The fake rider was wearing what appeared to be a Daraz uniform and held a package with no name or contact information. The rider insisted that home owner come outside to sign for the package’s delivery as it was an online / paid order.
It is pertinent to mention that packages from Daraz always have basic information like the recipient’s name and contact information, which wasn’t available with the person pretending to deliver the package.
“They simply kept stressing that we need to come sign for it,” said the Reddit user, adding he went to take a better look at them from his balcony, but their faces not visible because of their helmets.
The Reddit user asked one of the neighbors guards to check the package details with the fake delivery riders, but they ran off in a hurry. Upon discussing this with his neighbors, the Reddit user discovered that a similar incident happened with someone else residing in a different street, but he wasn’t that lucky since the fake delivery personnel were able to get inside.
Therefore, if you’re residing in Islamabad or anywhere else, you need to be careful when receiving a parcel and always confirm details from the delivery person before opening your gate or door to receive it.
In another tragic incident that took place in Islamabad’s Sector I-11, a couple was shot dead over a personal enmity, while their two-year-old child miraculously survived after armed men opened fire at the family.
