Messi-less Inter Miami Lose U.S. Open Cup Final

Inter Miami lost 1-2 against Houston Dynamo FC in the U.S. Open Cup Final with Messi unable to play the important match due to an injury. Former Barcelona player, Jordi Alba, was also missing from the lineup due to an injury.

Griffin Dorsey scored in the 24th minute for Houston Dynamo and nine minutes later Amine Bassi doubled their lead with a penalty.

Inter Miami fans saw a glimpse of hope in stoppage time when Josef Martinez scored for his team. However, Inter Miami were not able to net a second goal even though the final three minutes of the match were tense. But Messi’s reaction to Josef Martinez’s miss was liked by the Inter Miami fans.

Manager Gerardo Martino said that they could not risk Lionel Messi playing even for a few minutes.

But Messi could play some of the later matches before the league is over. Miami’s next match is against New York City FC on Sunday, Oct 1.
