Banks to Observe Extended Working Hours on September 30 for Tax Collection

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that Saturday opening branches of all banks will observe extending working hours on 30 September 2023 (Saturday) in order to facilitate tax collection through ADC’s Over-the-Counter (OTC) facility.

According to the details, these bank branches will remain open till 5:00 pm on Saturday. The decision to extend working hours was taken on the request of the Federal Board of Revenue to facilitate tax payers.

The central bank also added that in order to ensure the same day clearing / settlement of payment instruments deposited at banks’ authorized branches for tax collection, M/s. NIFT shall arrange special clearing at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023.

Accordingly, all banks have been advised to keep their concerned branches open till such time that is necessary to facilitate the special clearing by NIFT on September 30, 2023

Earlier, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) tweeted that last date of filing of Returns is not being extended and directed that all Inland Revenue Commissioners to facilitate taxpayers in filing Returns and granting extension on case by case basis.
