The Finance Ministry has cancelled the public holiday scheduled for 9 November 2023 on the occasion of Allama Iqbal Day for all its employees in light of the pre-scheduled meetings with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
“Finance Secretary has declared 9th November 2023 (a public holiday) as a working day in Finance Division in connection with the pre-scheduled meetings with the visiting IMF Review Mission,” the Finance Ministry stated.
It must be noted the November 9 public holiday has been cancelled for employees of the Finance Division only.
Meanwhile, the public holiday for 9 November 2023 is still in effect for everyone else.
The Finance Ministry has been under talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) regarding the ongoing review of the $3 billion Standby Arrangement.
If the global lender thinks that Pakistan’s performance is up to mark, it will release a second tranche of $700 million.
