In a significant step towards improving accessibility and convenience for individuals with disabilities, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a specialized helpline and a doorstep facility for issuing identity cards at home. A public relations officer, in a conversation with APP on Tuesday, highlighted that this initiative aims to streamline and simplify the process of obtaining a national identity card (NIC) for individuals with disabilities.
The recently launched NADRA Special Helpline 1777 is designed to be a centralized resource for persons with disabilities, offering comprehensive information and guidance on NADRA’s services, including the home-based NIC issuance procedure. The dedicated staff manning the helpline will be readily available to assist callers with any inquiries or concerns they may have.
To further facilitate individuals with disabilities who face challenges in visiting NADRA registration centers due to mobility issues or other physical limitations, the home-based NIC issuance service has been introduced. Under this service, NADRA officials will provide a doorstep facility and visit the homes of individuals with disabilities to collect the necessary documents, capture biometric data, and issue NICs. This approach ensures that everyone, regardless of physical constraints, has access to this crucial identity document.
The introduction of this initiative underscores NADRA’s commitment to inclusivity and its unwavering dedication to empowering individuals with disabilities. By bringing identity card services directly to their doorsteps, NADRA is actively eliminating barriers and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to fully participate in society with convenience, the spokesperson concluded.
