During the meeting, the chief minister outlined plans for establishing animal disease-free zones throughout Punjab. Emphasizing the significant potential for livestock export to nations like Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait, he stressed the importance of devising a robust and immediate plan to boost livestock exports.

To spearhead this initiative, the chief minister formed a committee comprising the provincial minister for livestock, additional chief secretary, secretary livestock, secretary finance, president of the All Pakistan Meat Exporters’ Association, and commissioners of Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur. The committee has been tasked with formulating a comprehensive plan aimed at increasing the output of the livestock sector.

This move follows previous instances where the provincial government imposed bans on the slaughter of female animals, leading to a noticeable shortage of red meat and cattle in the market. The renewed focus on livestock export and disease-free zones indicates a concerted effort by the government to balance economic considerations with the need for sustainable agricultural practices.
