Sharjah Announces Paid New Year Holiday for Government Sector

Sharjah has announced a paid New Year holiday for the government sector in the emirate. According to the details, 1 January 2024 (Monday) will be an off-day for government government employees to celebrate the start of the new year.

During the New Year holiday, all Sharjah government departments, bodies, and institutions will remain closed with normal working hours to resume from 2 January 2024 (Tuesday). It means that government employees will get a long three-day weekend to welcome the new year.

The decision falls in line with the United Arab Emirate’s (UAE) Federal Government, which announced that January 1, 2024, will be a public holiday across the nation on the occasion of new year.
