Turkey’s Prime Minister claims Israel behind “coup” in Egypt

Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has claimed that his government has proof that Israel was behind the June 30 uprising that toppled Islamist President Morsi from power.

In statements, Erdogan said “If we want a world, where nation’s will dominates, we need to respect the ballot boxes, where this will appear,” before adding that the ‘West’ was beginning to redefine democracy as a process that is not solely determined at the ballot box.

“This is what has been implemented in Egypt. Who is behind this? Israel. We have evidence,” declared Erdogan before adding “Israel is behind the Egyptian military coup, we have the related documents to confirm that.”

During the statements, Erdogan also spoke of a “Jewish” intellectual who had met with Turkey’s Justice Minister in France before the 2011 elections in Egypt: “The Muslim Brotherhood will not be in power even if they win the elections. Because democracy is not the ballot box’: This is what [the intellectual] said at that time.”

The Turkish Prime Minister has not clarified what the connection is between this “Jewish intellectual,” Israel, and recent events in Egypt and it is unclear what proof he has to prove Israel was “behind the coup.”

Hello! My name is Farhan Abro, and I'm based here in Islamabad. My journey in Pakistan's digital media really kicked off when I founded INCPak back in 2012. We built it from the ground up, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, to be a trusted voice for independent journalism. But while media is a big part of who I am, I'm also shaped by a fascinating mix of other passions. I'm deeply into automotive, which gives me a technical edge, but I also find my artistic expression through landscape photography and music. And I'm always diving into the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence. Bringing all these different worlds together the technical, the creative, the journalistic, and the entrepreneurial—it really colors how I see things and approach every project. It gives me a distinct perspective that I try to bring to everything I share
