Google Photos Gets Photos Stack Feature on Android

Google Photos has introduced a new feature called Photos Stack for Android, previously available on Apple devices since November. Now Android users can organize similar photos into stacks, streamlining their gallery experience. This feature simplifies navigation, allowing users to scroll through the Photos app without sorting through numerous similar images.

To activate Photos Stack, users can navigate to Photos Settings > Preferences > Stack Similar Photos. Alternatively, the app may prompt users to enable the feature through a pop-up after updating to version 6.66.0.597410323 from the Play Store. Once activated, grouped photos appear as a single thumbnail in grid view, identifiable by an icon in the upper-right corner.

Similar to burst photos, Photos Stack displays a single thumbnail with a unique icon in the top-right corner for easy identification. Upon opening a stack, users can view images in a horizontal strip, offering options to select a top pick, delete unwanted images, or mark specific images for deletion.

The feature facilitates sharing the entire stack or just the top pick with friends and family. For those finding the option inconvenient, it can be disabled in settings or by selecting the “Unstack photos” option. The rollout of Photo Stacks may take a few days to reach all users.

Google Photos continues its trend of impressing users with new features and enhancements, providing a more organized and user-friendly photo management experience. The addition of Photos Stack on Android brings a sought-after feature to a broader user base, contributing to a clutter-free and efficient gallery navigation.
