Apple Reportedly Working on Two Foldable iPhones

Recent reports suggest that Apple is in the early stages of developing foldable iPhone prototypes, though a foldable iPad is expected to precede any foldable iPhone release. The iPhone prototypes reportedly resemble Samsung Galaxy Z Flip models, with Apple aiming to make them only half as thick as current models when closed. The company is also exploring the addition of an outward screen. However, challenges with components like batteries and displays are hindering progress.

Despite these challenges, Apple has allegedly discussed ordering components with Asian manufacturers for two foldable iPhone sizes. The project may be scrapped if it doesn’t meet Apple’s standards. Meanwhile, a foldable iPad appears to be a more manageable task for Apple, with a focus on an inward-folding model featuring an 8-inch screen. The primary challenge for the foldable iPad is eliminating the crease that forms with repeated folding, aiming for a completely flat screen to allow seamless interaction and Apple Pencil use.

It remains unclear if Apple has found a satisfactory solution to this issue, suggesting that Apple’s foldable devices are still a few years away from becoming a reality.
