PSL 9 action kept fans on the edge as Lahore Qalandars clashed with Multan Sultans in Match 14 at Lahore Qaddafi Stadium today. Multan Sultans clinched victory by a whopping 60 runs as Lahore Qalandars fell short of the 215-run target.
Winning the toss, Multan Sultans opted to bat first, setting a challenging target of 215 runs. Despite a shaky start with Mohammad Rizwan dismissed for zero, Usman Khan and Reeza Hendricks stepped up, scoring 96 and 40 runs respectively.
Usman Khan hit 13 boundaries, including 11 fours and 2 sixes, while Reeza Hendricks managed 7 boundaries, comprising 6 fours and 1 six. Tayyab Tahir and Iftikhar Ahmed chipped in with 21 and 40 runs respectively, bolstering Multan Sultans’ total.
In reply, Lahore Qalandars began decently with Sahibzada Farhan making 31 runs, followed by Fakhar Zaman’s 23 and Rassie van der Dussen’s 30.
However, the momentum shifted as Lahore Qalandars lost wickets regularly. Kamran Ghulam and Sikandar Mirza managed double-digit scores of 12 and 17 respectively. With key batters falling, Shaheen Afridi contributed only 9 runs, George Linde 15, Carlos Braithwaite 5, and Salman Fayyaz just 8 runs.
