Karachi Half-Day Work Alert: Govt Offices & Private Sector to Close Early on 1st March 2024

KARACHI: The Government of Sindh has announced a half-day work schedule for Friday, March 1st, 2024, in all districts of the Karachi Division.

This applies to all government offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous institutions, corporations, and local councils, except for essential service providers. Businesses in the private sector are also encouraged to follow suit.

This decision comes in anticipation of potential disruptions caused by anticipated rain showers in the city.

The government aims to mitigate traffic congestion and ensure the safety of employees during their commute home.

It’s important to note that essential service providers, such as hospitals, emergency services, and utilities, will continue to operate as usual to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of these crucial services.

The notification was issued on 29th February, 2024 states: ‘The Government of Sindh hereby declares a state of emergency for all officers, employees, and contractors in the Karachi division, except those engaged in essential services and involved in rain emergency duties.

The Government of Sindh hereby declares a half working day till 2:00 p.m. on March 1, 2024 (Friday) due to a rain emergency for all Offices, Autonomous, Semi-Autonomous Bodies, Corporations & Local Councils in Karachi Division, except those engaged in essential services and involved in rain emergency duties.’
