The government in Abu Dhabi announced official working hours for public sector workers during Ramadan 2024. From Monday to Thursday, employees will work from 9am to 2.30pm, and on Fridays, they will work from 9am to 12pm. Additionally, on Fridays, up to 70% of government workers who don’t need to be at the workplace can work remotely.
Federal employees across the UAE will also have reduced hours during Ramadan. They will work 3.5 hours less from Monday to Thursday and 1.5 hours less on Fridays, according to The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR).
All ministries and federal agencies will operate within these hours, promoting a consistent schedule. Private sector employees, guided by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), will also work two hours less each day during Ramadan. Companies can choose flexible or remote work arrangements, considering the nature of their work.
These measures aim to accommodate the spiritual and cultural practices of the holy month while ensuring operational efficiency. It’s important for employees to stay updated on any changes to working hours and arrangements during this time.
