Sindh Govt announces Rs 22 billion Ramzan package

Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, announced a Rs. 22 billion Ramzan relief package on Thursday to address the concerns of the province’s residents during the holy month.

This financial aid aims to alleviate the financial burden faced by many households, particularly those struggling with rising living costs.

A central element of the package is the distribution of Rs. 5,000 in cash assistance to 3.5 million families earning a minimum wage of Rs. 32,000 per month. This measure targets approximately 60% of the provincial population, providing much-needed financial support during Ramzan.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of controlling prices and ensuring the availability of essential commodities at affordable rates. He directed authorities to crack down on hoarders and profiteers who manipulate market prices for personal gain. Additionally, district administrations were instructed to closely monitor and enforce government-established prices for essential goods.

In a bid to ensure a smooth and peaceful Ramzan for the people of Sindh, the Chief Minister also directed electricity distribution companies, K-Electric, HESCO, and SEPCO, to maintain an uninterrupted power supply during Sehri and Iftari timings. This will allow residents to prepare and consume meals without disruptions caused by power outages.

The Sindh government’s Ramzan relief package, encompassing financial assistance, price control measures, and uninterrupted electricity supply, is a multifaceted approach intended to provide relief and support to the province’s residents during the holy month.
